Murder in the Everglades….

Ernest Hamilton is a Florida native and graduate of the University of Florida. He lived the first seven years of his life in the Everglades before it became a National Park. His family lived there since 1872. In 1932, his father, William Joseph Hamilton, disappeared into the swamp. Some stories say he was murdered by rival trappers. His body was never found.

Ernie says, “I’ve visited the old homesteads on several occasions, and I wrote a short story about my father not returning from a hunting trip before I was born. My daughter asked me, “What if.” What if he hadn’t been killed? Why hadn’t he returned?”

This is William’s story.
